New York City FC are staring down another quick turnaround and a formidable opponent in Nashville SC, but Head Coach Pascal Jansen is staying focused on one mission: a strong, consistent response.

“This group has shown what it’s capable of,” Jansen stated confidently. “Now it’s about proving that consistently. Starting with Nashville.”

The call for consistency comes in the wake of NYCFC’s 1-0 defeat to Houston Dynamo—a result that interrupted a stretch of strong performances and renewed momentum in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Players Echo the Message

That sentiment was mirrored by defender Birk Risa, who has recently been deployed in a more advanced role at left-back.

“We want to be more consistent,” Risa said. “It's something that we're working on. If it were just as easy as saying it, we’d have done it already, but it’s not. So we need to figure it out, and we’re working on it."

“We’re talking a lot about it—among ourselves and with the staff. We’re working hard and trying to find solutions.”

Despite the frustration of Wednesday’s result, Risa remained optimistic about the bigger picture.

“If you look at our performances—take away Wednesday—we’re on a good roll. But yeah, then this one comes. Now we’re looking forward to tomorrow. Put in a performance. We can. We can start over again.”

A Chance to Reset

As NYCFC prepare for the road clash at GEODIS Park, the squad is focused not only on bouncing back, but on establishing rhythm and identity in a critical stretch of the MLS season.
