Qatar 2022 - FIFA bans the rainbow armband

The case of the rainbow armband takes center stage on the second day of Qatar2022. FIFA has expressly banned the captains of 7 national teams from wearing the "One Love" armband, in support of the LGBTQ+ community; the referees would have cautioned players from Germany, England, Denmark, Switzerland, Wales, Belgium and the Netherlands if they showed it on the pitch. Sport tries to explain why such a measure and its legitimacy: "If FIFA had classified the message as religious or political and 'offensive towards a considerable number of people' as required by Rule 4, the referees could have ordered the players to remove the armband during the recognition. If they had refused, they could have received the yellow card at the first stoppage of play. In any case, FIFA could have sanctioned the federation for the gesture."
