New York City FC are looking to turn the page quickly as they head to GEODIS Park for a crucial MLS clash against Nashville SC this weekend. The Boys in Blue travel to Music City following a disappointing midweek defeat to Houston Dynamo, and Head Coach Pascal Jansen made it clear during Friday’s media session that the team’s focus must shift forward — and fast.

“Our priority going into the Nashville game is to show—mainly to ourselves—that what happened on Wednesday was an incident,” said Jansen. “We have to make sure we treat it as such and get back to our identity.”

A Look Back at Houston

Jansen offered a candid breakdown of the positives and shortcomings from the 1-0 loss to Houston. While NYCFC started strong, their inability to maintain rhythm and speed in possession ultimately proved costly.

“The first 15 to 20 minutes, we were ourselves—fluid, good on the ball, good press moments, high regains,” he explained. “Then the goal came, and credit to Houston, they made it really tight and compact in the middle.”

“The thing that bothered me was our speed of play. It was way too slow to find the spaces. That’s something we need to address.”

Focus Shifts to Nashville

Saturday’s matchup provides NYCFC with a chance to reset and show resilience on the road. Jansen emphasized that rediscovering their core identity—quick, purposeful passing and high pressing—will be key to silencing Nashville SC in front of their home fans.

With both points and momentum at stake, NYCFC will need to be sharp in all phases if they hope to stay competitive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
