As New York City FC gears up for their midweek clash against the Houston Dynamo, Head Coach Pascal Jansen provided an important update on the squad’s health. Among the most positive developments is the return of midfield anchor Keaton Parks, whose recovery marks a major boost for the team.
“I’m very happy that Keaton Parks is part of the roster again, that’s looking good,” said Jansen. “The problems with his foot are improving.”
Parks’ return adds much-needed stability and experience to the midfield, offering Jansen more tactical flexibility in a tightly packed fixture schedule. His ability to dictate tempo and provide defensive cover will be key as NYCFC aims to continue building momentum following their 3-1 victory over the Chicago Fire.
However, not all injury news is as uplifting. Andrés Perea, another central figure in midfield, remains sidelined. “Andrés didn’t make it. We have to take good care of him and give him more time to prepare for the next game,” Jansen noted, suggesting a cautious approach toward the midfielder’s recovery.
Full-back Kevin O’Toole is also facing a slower-than-expected return. “Kevin is struggling a little bit. It’s taking longer than we anticipated, but we’re taking no risks with him,” said the head coach, underlining the club’s commitment to long-term fitness over short-term gain.
Meanwhile, young talent Malachi Jones remains out as well, with Jansen offering a reserved update: “That’s a situation where we all just have to wait and see.”
With a blend of good and uncertain news, NYCFC’s medical and coaching staff are working closely to manage player availability with precision. While the return of Keaton Parks is a big step forward, the team must continue to navigate a challenging schedule with limited depth in key areas.
The match against Houston Dynamo at Yankee Stadium will test NYCFC’s resilience, depth, and adaptability. But with spirits high after a confident performance over the weekend and critical pieces returning to the fold, there’s every reason for optimism in the Bronx.
