Incredible in Turkey: commentator sacked in Morocco-Canada half-time

An incredible episode that took place on TRT, Turkey's state television, and related to the Morocco-Canada match played yesterday. Commentator Alper Bakircigil mentioned the name of former striker Hakan Sukur, mentioned immediately after Ziyech's Moroccan lead goal, which had surpassed the previous record set by the Turkish centre-forward.

A sworn enemy of President Erdogan, as the unfortunate commentator quickly understood, fired on the spot even during the interval. At the start of the second half, Bakircigil didn't show up at the commentary table, being quickly replaced by a colleague. The unfortunate journalist confirmed on his Twitter profile: "I was kicked out of the TRT after having worked there with pride for so many years. Separation is part of love. I hope to see you again soon". The tweet was later removed.
