Cushing said he was happy to have the Brazilian back in contention, adding that he sees the striker playing a key role in the new season.

"It's great to have Gabby back," he continued. “We were excited when we heard he was coming here.

“As soon as he arrived, he was very motivated, and very hungry and it was nice to take him to the training ground. I had a great desire to put him into play, even if only for 10-15 minutes, just to get him on the pitch.

“He too had a great desire to play with the boys again, so I'm really happy, and I'm not surprised that he scored during the match. He had one more chance, so he almost scored two.

"He's going to be a really important player for us this year and someone we look up to."
