Mlssoccer.com has compiled the list of free agent players. Within this list are very interesting players that MLS Insider Tom Bogert has divided by importance. Among the top five are the two NYCFC players: Alex Callens and Sean Johnson.

Here is Tom Bogert's report:

Callens, central defender for the Peruvian national team, has been integral to NYCFC's successful run over the past half-decade, including winning the 2021 MLS Cup and 2022 Campeones Cup while reaching the playoffs in all five seasons. Now out of contract, the 30-year-old will perhaps be the most coveted free agent on the market.

Callens was already highly regarded and respected prior to this season, but as he played with more attacking freedom from a left centre-back role under manager Nick Cushing, Callens showed an added level of play to him. He can fit right into a back four or three and is an elite center fielder in this league, not just in the free agent pool.

The best goalkeeper in deep field, Sean Johnson was among the best shooters in the league for years. His demise also evolved during his tenure with the NYCFC. The 33-year-old is currently with the USMNT at the World Cup.

NYCFC are hoping to re-sign him, but any team needing a goalkeeper will consider him. It won't be cheap.
