NYCFC, Cushing: "I rely heavily on the leadership of veterans"

Nick Cushing spoke at a press conference ahead of the start of next season:
"I've seen the mentality of this group and the personality of this group grow during the preseason," he said.

“I was impressed with the group mentality in the LA Galaxy game. Even as I put up our MLS II and Academy kids, the leadership and support our kids gave to those kids, to go forward and win the game was an encouraging sign for me.

“Then going into St. Louis City SC, obviously we were disappointed with the loss of two, but – as with the San Jose Earthquakes game – the mentality, the mentality, the unity in the group… to make sure we don't just put in a performance to get the physicist out of the game, but also the tactician out of the game; get the result, to make sure you don't lose the game for me is a perfect sign.

“One thing I think this preseason has shown me, especially going into that Nashville game, is that we have some inspiring football players, and I rely on the leadership of our senior leaders: Thiago Martins, Alfredo Morales, and Maxime Chanot ”.
