NYCFC sporting director David Lee spoke on the sidelines of the signing of Alex Callens with Girona: “I would like to thank Alex for the huge amount he has given to the club since his arrival. We have seen Alex become the player and leader he is today thanks to his incredible work ethic and dedication, establishing himself as one of our longest serving players. His performances have earned him recognition as one of the best defenders in the league and he will go down in NYCFC history for playing an integral role in helping us win the MLS Cup and the Campeones Cup."
