Cushing praises Guardiola: "It was the best to learn from him, I'm grateful to him"

It was a big step for Nick Cushing to leave Manchester City and head to NYCFC, especially as he was unlike anything Cushing had ever known. But the new coach said he never felt any pressure as he was supported by City and also by Guardiola.

"The amount of support I've had to get where I am now is incredible. I've never felt pressured," he said. "From the likes of Brian Marwood, Gavin Makel, Jason Wilcox and even now Txiki Begiristain and Pep Guardiola.

"For me Pep Guardiola has had an incredible impact on every football manager in the world," added Cushing. "Having the opportunity to sit down with him with a tactical board and talk to him about the methods he is using and the ideas I have was incredible.
"Almost the first few times it was a bit of a dream because of where he is. But now he has evolved my way of thinking and understanding how his style is applied and the concept of how he sounds and why he has been so successful.

"Learning from him was amazing and I'm so thankful".
