Nick Cushing commented on his appointment as New York City FC head coach on the club's official website:
"From the moment I arrived in New York in 2020, I was truly inspired by this city and the energy in our club. Having the responsibility to carry on this incredible Football Club and lead the team and continue to be successful is what which I am really excited about.
“I want to thank everyone at City Football Group for believing in me and for giving me the opportunity to continue growing and developing as a manager. New York City is such a special place, there are some really special people here at the Club, we feed on our city, we feed on our fans. We believe that our fans deserve a team that plays good football but also offers trophies and I have the desire to continue like this".
