New York City FC traded the #17 pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft to Minnesota United in exchange for $50,000 General Allocation Money (GAM) and a potential $25,000 GAM for meeting certain performance based incentives.

Austin FC kicked off the 2021 MLS SuperDraft by selecting Virginia Tech midfielder Daniel Pereira with the #1 pick. FC Cincinnati followed that up with the # 2 pick and selected Wake Forest forward Calvin Harris. Clemson midfielder Philip Mayaka rounded out the top three when he was selected by the Colorado Rapids after they acquired the # 3 pick from the Houston Dynamo via a trade. 

In the 2nd round of the SuperDraft New York City FC selected University of Maryland defender Ben Di Rosa with the #44 pick. The right-back started 21 matches for the Terps in 2019 and produced a goal and two assists while racking up 1,741 minutes.

In the third round New York City FC selected the Midfielder of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee wth the #17.
