There is time to build a competitive team. As of today, New York City FC would not be one of the teams credited with winning the MLS. In the starting grid, the Pigeons start behind the others. The important sales formalized weeks ago have severely weakened the team. There is a lack of important players in every department, but above all, the attack seems to be the department that most needs new additions.
We do not know the condition of Heber, who was seriously injured last season. Right now the Brazilian is out. New York has only Castellanos as a central striker. Too little. Ronny Deila can count on Maxi Moralez's imagination, but how many games will he be able to play? Age is no longer in favor of the little Blues, we don't know how many consecutive games Maxi will be able to play.
These are just a few two reasons why New York City FC must buy at least two strikers. Maybe one of them could be a star. It is useless to hide that New York no longer has the appeal of long ago, when David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard arrived. Yet the club will have to make every effort to buy players suitable for Deila's game, but also a star who can return to stir the fans, long away from the team and worried about next season.
