Charlotte FC and New York City FC have a different ranking but both are in crisis. For the hosts it will be essential to try to win against the Blues while keeping the playoff hopes alive. But the Charlotte FC period is not happy. In the last two games they have never scored and have always lost. Charlotte FC's only win in their last six games came against New York City FC, 3-1 away on 17 August.

Also for New York City FC the moment is not the best. The Pigeons gained a point after three consecutive defeats, but suffered a sharp collapse after the departure of Castelannos. New York City FC has in fact only won one of their last nine games, just since Castellanos departure. The draw against FC Cincinnati raised the team's morale a bit. Nick Cushing said that this is the right way, but there are still a lot of things to do.

For today's game, the coach of the Blues returns to have Justin Haak available and will be able to count on Keaton Parks, also not at his best but who probably manages to find space during the game.

The bad news for Cushing, however, comes from the unavailable players. Anton Tinnerholm and Alfredo Morales will be absent due to injury, Nicolás Acevedo and Maxime Chanot have collected midweek yellow cards that earned them a suspension, while Thiago Martins' red card means he will also have to miss the game.
