Academy Heading to San Diego for Nexen Man City Cup

NYCFC’s Academy teams are heading to San Diego for Memorial Day weekend to compete in the Nexen Man City Cup tournament. 

The U-12s, U-13s, and U-14s will be representing NYCFC in the tournament as they take on teams from around the world, as well as other MLS Academy teams like Sporting KC, Seattle Sounders, Real Salt Lake – AZ, San Jose Earthquakes, LA Galaxy, LAFC, Atlanta United, FC Dallas and Minnesota United FC. 

All age groups are competing in the Supergroup, in which they will play four games each in the group stage to advance to the quarterfinals and make a run at the final. 

Although the competition will be tough, the experience prevails for the young teams. Tournaments, like the Nexen Man City Cup, are valuable for player development, and a great way for the boys to bring in the summer in the sunny state of California.
