Anti-Kosovo provocation: Serbia risks

Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Serbian Football Federation. Before the defeat against Brazil, the team hung a flag in the dressing room depicting the outlines of Kosovo filled with the banner of Serbia, with the words "No surrender". Tensions run high between ethnic Serbs and the Albanian-led government in Kosovo amid fears that violence could flare up again, 23 years after the war. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but the latter does not recognize it. It was the Football Federation of Kosovo that filed a complaint against Serbia's "chauvinistic rhetoric", asking FIFA to "punish the Serbian football federation for this aggressive action contrary to the values of football".
