Orlando City midfielder Victor “PC” Giro will miss the club’s match against NYCFC after MLS announced he was suspended an additional game and fined an undisclosed amount for “violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent” during the Lions’ season opener against D.C. United.

The announcement came Friday evening.

PC received a red card in the 37th minute of Orlando City’s 1-1 draw with United after he battled Yamil Asad for a ball and his arm made contact with Asad’s head.

He was initially shown a yellow card, but then was given a red after Video Assistant Referee review. It was the second instance of a VAR review going against Orlando City in that match.

PC, who started against D.C. United, missed Orlando City’s 2-1 loss to Minnesota United last Saturday.

In the days following PC’s red card, Orlando City officials confirmed the club wouldn’t appeal the decision. Coach Jason Kreis also said the incident showed “a little bit of a lack of discipline.” Kreis said it was one of the few negatives he took from Orlando City’s season opener.

“It’s a particular area that we’ve been talking about in the preseason, that we want to be a disciplined team this year and a very focused team this year on what our objective is,” Kreis said last week. “To take any ejection, and certainly one like that, where I feel it was avoidable, is not a good thing for our team.”
