A burning defeat. An undeserved defeat. New York City FC loses the first derby of the season and much of the blame is to be attributed to an arbitrage that is not up to par. The referee was undoubtedly the negative protagonist of the match. First the episode of the penalty where the referee Alan Kelly did not review the action at the VAR. After the controversial and doubtful corner assigned to the Red Bulls from which the goal of the advantage and victory was born. What should have been a derby played openly and with no holds barred turned out to be a game completely ruined by the referee. A real pity. Unfortunately we cannot go back, but the hope is that such errors will not be repeated for any team and that for New York City FC there is more respect on the part of the entire refereeing class because what we saw in the derby is unacceptable.
