New York City FC Vs D.C. United: Will D.C. come away with another big win?

It will be all to play for on Sunday afternoon as New York City FC host D.C. United at Yankee Stadium. The two Eastern Conference clubs are favored to move on to the playoffs this season and will meet twice in the first eight matchdays of the season.

With a myriad of attacking players on show, including MVP candidate Wayne Rooney and latest Designated Player acquisition Alexandru Mitrita, this could be a truly enthralling affair.

After recording a clean sheet against defending Major League Soccer champions Atlanta United, D.C. United have a chance to make it two wins against two of the top clubs in the Eastern Conference. This would be a massive start for them to get maximum points from these two fixtures.

In 2018, D.C. earned four points against NYCFC in their two meetings. That is no bad return, but in their quest to establish themselves as one of the elite teams in MLS this season, a victory here, over another dangerous Eastern opponent, would be hugely significant.

It could be possible that D.C. take six points from their two fixtures this year. When staring at the fixture list at the start of the season, I am sure any fan would have absolutely taken that.
