New York City FC won their biggest match of the season last weekend, defeating the Montreal Impact at the Stade Saputo 2-0. Montreal was tied atop the Eastern Conference table but New York City FC dominated the match. They had 54% possession and held Montreal without a shot on target.

Manager Dome Torrent has found success with a 3-4-3 shape. They played a low defensive block against Montreal and kept a tight defensive shape. Their disciplined defending kept Montreal from getting good opportunities in front of goal. Of course, it helped that Ignacio Piatti was out injured.

On the offensive end, New York City FC continued to rely on long passes to stretch defenses. The front three of Heber, Maxi Moralez, and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi played well together. They connected play nicely and showed good chemistry. Heber is excellent at dragging defenders outside with his movement, creating space for the wingers to cut inside. New York City FC were very dangerous going forward, taking the lead in the fifth minute and never looking back.
