New York City’s leading scorer last season, Heber, opened 2020 with the first hat trick by an MLS player in the Concacaf Champions League during a 5-3 road beat down of AD San Carlos.

In two matches since in MLS play, the Brazilian has failed to record an attempt on goal.

Heber, who scored 15 goals in 22 appearances last year, was held without a shot in 70 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Columbus and had nary a stab in the full 90 at Toronto FC.

“It was a different game last time of course [playing down a man for 87 minutes against Columbus], Deila said. “Today, it was a tough away game and we had two big chances. We should have come to some more and it’s tough for a striker when you don’t get the chances. We will get that better for Wednesday.”

Including the second leg against AD San Carlos, City has one goal in its last three matches.
