The derby of the failed VAR. The one played last Sunday will be remembered as the derby lost by New York City FC due to the sensational mistakes made by referee Alan Kelly and his assistant Corey Rockwell. Making mistakes is legitimate, but the feeling is very strange, so to speak. The soccer has finally evolved with the introduction of the VAR, but what sense does it and not use it? Unfortunately in the derby the VAR was not used despite the dubious episodes that instead deserved to be reviewed. The penalty and the corner were important episodes that had to be reviewed with the VAR, but the referee went further on his decision. An attitude that penalized New York City FC and also the fans because the show failed. We are sure that even for the Red Bulls fans, winning with this spot was not totally pleasant. The episodes of the derby, however, show that serve very specific rules for the use of the Var, with the base that bit of common sense from the referees that should never miss.
