After a tough loss on the road last weekend against Atlanta United, the Boys In Blue were on the hunt to continue their climb up the Eastern Conference table with multiple games still in hand.

The last time these two teams met, NYCFC defeated FC Cincinnati 5-2 and though tonight’s scoreline ended in similar fashion, this time around Cincy was energized by new coach Ron Jans, and started the night off aggressively looking to defend their turf.

An early slip from City earned Jans’ side a penalty kick in the 24th minute, but Sean Johnson was there to keep things level.

The home team wasn’t done though. They resumed their attacking effort, and Allan Cruz was able to get one past Johnson shortly after for the opening goal of the night in the 32nd minute.

City answered right back when just two minutes later, Maxi Moralez raced through the midfield to find Taty Castellanos outside the box. The Argentine calmly collected and curled home his eighth goal of the season.

Then just two minutes before the end of first half stoppage time, Héber came up big for the team once again, pouncing to put one past ‘keeper, Przemyslaw Tyton for his 11th goal of the season.

City took a 2-1 lead into the half and never looked back.

In the 71st minute, Taty Castellanos scored a first header off a corner of the season - much to the delight of the City bench.

NYC continued to push, adding a fourth and final goal on the night when Héber broke through Cincinnati’s defense in the 89th minute to put the cherry on top of a sweet four goal win For The City.
