El Frasquito. Spiderman. Maxi.

2018 NYCFC MVP.

Maxi Moralez has been named NYCFC’s Most Valuable Player for the 2018 MLS season.

The Argentine central midfield magician has earned the award following a fantastic second season at New York City FC.

Moralez, an MLS Latino of the Year Award nominee, was New York City’s attacking fulcrum in the club’s fourth ever campaign. He registered 16 assists in 32 starts – two behind the league leader with 18 – and scored 8 goals along the way.

His versatility was of immense value – seemingly playing every role in attack from creator to target man at times – and who could forget his debut as a celebrity barber in giving one fan a taste of his own tweetin’ medicine off the back of his 2017 header vs. Houston?

“Having the ball on a string” continues to be an apt description for Moralez, whose low center of gravity remains favorite in most Major League matchups as it has been for the past two years. The reign of chips, flicks, and webs spun should only continue into season 3 of Spidey’s NYCFC adventure.

Everyone at NYCFC would like to congratulate Maxi on another awesome season and this well-deserved award. 2019 here we come…
