Anton Tinnerholm has been named NYCFC’s Defender of the Year for 2018.
The Swedish right back earned the award following an outstanding debut season in MLS.
A rock at the back and a driving force up the wing – Tinnerholm quickly endeared himself to the City faithful with a string of early season wonder strikes that came to be known as the TinnerBOOM.
The 27 year-old signed for New York City FC on December 13th of 2017 after winning Allsvenskan Defender of the Year award and leading Malmo to back-to-back titles.
He made 31 regular season starts and 3 playoff starts – tallying 4 goals and 6 assists overall.
His tireless work rate and leadership were evident from the day he arrived. A proven-winner over the course of his young career, he will continue his fight to bring a first trophy to NYCFC next season.
Everyone at NYCFC would like to congratulate Anton on a fantastic first season with the club and this well deserved award.
